GLE Renewal Board 11th June 2026 Update
The GLE Renewal Board is in place to oversee and support the delivery of the 10-year programme of Housing improvement works on the Golden Lane Estate. The Board meets monthly and membership includes residents nominated by GLERA, Councillors, and officers of the Corporation. The board is chaired by Councillor Adam Hogg. The Board consist of the following members, Anthony Fitzpatrick, Ceri Wilkins (Deputy), Sarah Gillinson, The Chair of Glera and 1 tenant and 1 leaseholder. COL Officers are Peta Caine (Director of Housing) and Judith Finlay (Executive Director Community and Children's Service), with Greg Wade (Head of Major Works) providing the Board with a monthly progress update on all programme-related activity.
The June update is as follows -
1. Appointment of a new Chair of the GLE Renewal Board – Cllr Adam Hogg and thanks to the outgoing chair – Anthony Fitzpatrick (now Deputy chair)
2. The Board has been operating for a year and members agreed to review the impact and reflect on changes required to ensure & improve our ongoing effectiveness.
3. Leaseholder contributions – The Board were told about two reports going to 30th June CCS Committee on a policy for leaseholder Loans and a leaseholder proposal relating to the major works project. The Board agreed that we need also to consider the impact on and communication with tenants of any decisions. The Board made a helpful suggestion that we start discussions with leaseholders in advance of the Committee meeting. That was agreed and the first meeting took place on 17th June 2026.
4. Good communication with residents is key given the scale of major building works being undertaken. The Board discussed the developing communications strategy. We agreed a newsletter and to plan for a resident open day at the end of September.
5. Finally, we heard that recruitment is well underway for the team that will lead this programme a new Senior Principal Project Manager for GLE starts in midJuly, reporting to Greg Wade. Also, there is an intention to recruit two new Resident Decant Officers in Autumn 2026 once the necessary approvals have been obtained.
End.
